Within our existence, there is constant movement. Wavelengths unseen by the human eye, water ebbing along the ocean shoreline, breath, more visible with the change of temperature in the surrounding environment, and the physical movement observed with the naked eye. Flow is physically exemplified with the movement of objects through space or streamed through one’s mind via sight. Sometimes we become absorbed in the movement of things in space whereby emotions are heightened to create a positive effect of ultimate satisfaction. There is the constant flow of movement surrounding us daily as we journey life’s pathway. What we react to may pull us closer, inward to examine the object or illusion that affects us. Equally, one’s reaction may propel an observer to another level, expanding one’s mind and values. These works are created to engage the viewer in an internal, emotional transition that sparks reflection.

About Me: Bio

ABOUT

Personal Profile

My early life was grounded in New York – Harlem and the Bronx – during the decades of the late fifties, sixties and seventies. I have resided in various states along the east coast and currently live Maryland. Additionally, my international travels are few but are inclusive of the African and Asian continents. As a young girl, I was introduced to many art galleries in Manhattan as well as local store front/art galleries in my community of Harlem. One of my mentors at the time, had been aware of my interest in art and encouraged me to continue my growth in this area. He even allowed me to display some of my paintings in his storefront/art gallery. This was an exciting, confidence building experience, which furthered my sustenance for art over the years.
Artist is a descriptor that has always been relevant to my existence though for decades it’s been suppressed internally. Prior to transitioning to the field of art, I had an industrious career in education. Upon embarking on my career in education, I minored in art but always felt somewhat incomplete in this field. Over the past decades, my passion for the fine arts has been continuously fueled with visitation to various museums and utilizing creativity in some form to motivate students.
My interests in art have always been in the areas of landscape painting and sculpture, which is now inclusive of organic sculptural creations via ceramics. Much detail and time is involved in the creation of these artifacts. The mediums used to create art have included acrylic and/or oil paints, oil pastels, graphite, plaster and   clay. Sometimes, fabric and netting have been utilized in the execution of art. My knowledge of the various techniques is expanding as I pursue classes in these areas or observe my peers’ work. Institutions I have attended are inclusive of Baltimore Clayworks, Community College of Baltimore County, and Maryland Institute College of Art, from which I obtained my BFA in painting in 2020. It is a rewarding gift to revisit my love – art – and dedicate this time to it; however, my pursuit is not self-motivated for my own gratification. It is important to give back to humanity.
As life advances forward, I perceive myself as a vehicle through which art flows. It is my aim to be a motivational support for young or older people who need the encouragement and confidence to go the extra mile in pursuing their dreams and goals in the arts, and I aim to provide a sense of peace to those who peruse my work.
